  • Au/05-Sp/06: Mary Margaret Fill's project dealt with tRNA processing in Trypanosoma brucei . She worked on the characterization of determinants of tRNA editing specificity in these organisms. tRNA editing is an essential process needed to generate functional tRNAs to be used in translation. The type of editing Mary Margaret studied is thus far only found in Trypanosomes and it is therefore a prospective target for antitrypanosomal drugs.
